WHO WE ARE
Nazariya is an Urdu word which means "Perspective", and we at Nazariya are striving to bring a change in the society, one taboo at a time.
Menstruation is a very crucial topic impacting life in social, economic, and political spheres. We believe that a large part of combating its negative effects includes normalising the conversations by bringing gender inclusivity.
Ever heard of a dinner table conversation about Period pains or cramps ? Does that sound bizarre ? Why would someone talk about menstruation over dinners ? That is the mentality we've grown up with, making Period conversations secretive and in between females only making it a taboo in the society. Nazariya foundation is a not for profit initiative which was spearheaded as an attempt to spread awareness about Menstruation and shatter all the myths around it. We take a body positive approach to talk about it and cover a wide range of topics including Biology of Periods, Menstrual Hygiene, and Menstrual taboos.
We keep our workshops in a simple language and make them engaging through games and activities.
Our aim of period positivity is achieved through workshops, events and online engagement. We collaborate with several schools and colleges to address a wide range of people from several socio-economic spheres.
We started out as an awareness based movement in the small town of Panipat. Since then, the movement has spread across 5 states in India addressing over 3400 students.
With the constant support from the people around us, our aim is to reach all 29 states and educate people on menstruation and the stigma around it, to eradicate the issue at hand.
